Product class SKAT

The SKAT special vertical lathes in sizes 12 and 16 are specified for complete machining of railway wheels. It is possible to turn inside and outside cylindrical and tapered surfaces, rotary surfaces and threading. The machines have two rail heads. The table is completed with three-jaw hydraulic-mechanical chucking and with special jaws for chucking the railway wheels. The chucking force is adjustable and chucking is checked automatically during machining.

The SKAT vertical lathes have a fixed crossrail height. The SKAT machines have two specially adapted chain tool magazines for 30 tools and with two adjustable storage places for storing the applied tools. The tool magazines are located on the floor on the right side and on the left side, near to the machine bed. The working area, including the tool magazines, is secured against flying chips and splashing coolant by means of protective guards. The machine is equipped with the Sinumerik control system. On the customer's wish the vertical lathe can be completed with automatic workpiece manipulation including workpiece transport.
